I explore the contrasts between tranquillity and motion and combine a suggestion of the natural world with precision engineering. My latest works is an interpreting of memories from my garden, where I sometimes try to hide in my own bubble but fail to foreclose what happens in the world around me.
My ceramic objects are handbuilt and smoke fired and I work with contrasts between the smooth burnished surface and the texture of the chamotte clay. With the smoke firing I achieve subtle variations between the black and the brown and the smoke leaves unexpected traces.
